NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT

Meet Melissa Teel, MS, RD, LDN, IFNCP

Hi! I’m Melissa Teel, a licensed and board-certified functional dietitian who works with patients ages 2 and up to uncover the “why” behind their symptoms, especially when it comes to mental health, mood, digestion, hormones, energy, and immune health.

I specialize in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, chronic fatigue, bloating, skin issues, brain fog, weight changes, and blood sugar dysregulation. I'll bring a nutrition-focused lens to your care plan, helping connect the dots between your gut, brain, and overall health.

Using functional labs, food-as-medicine strategies, and a personalized approach, I’ll help you discover what’s driving your symptoms and support your body’s ability to heal. You’ll get clear guidance on food, lifestyle, and supplements to help you feel more like yourself again.

Whether you’re a parent trying to support your child’s development or you're an adult ready to feel better in your body and mind, I'm here to help you make sustainable, empowering changes from the inside out.

What to Expect in Our Sessions

As an Integrative and Functional Dietitian, I take a whole-person approach to health, understanding that physical health, mental health, and emotional well-being are deeply connected. Whether you’re navigating gut issues, hormone imbalances, blood sugar concerns, or mood challenges, I focus on identifying and addressing the root causes so you can feel your best—body and mind.

I specialize in supporting clients with:

  • Digestive health concerns (IBS, bloating, SIBO, leaky gut)

  • Hormone imbalances (PMS, PCOS, perimenopause/menopause)

  • Blood sugar regulation (insulin resistance, prediabetes, reactive hypoglycemia)

  • Sustainable weight management

  • Mental health support (anxiety, depression, mood imbalances) through nutrition and lifestyle

What I Offer

Comprehensive Assessments
We’ll dive deep into your health story, exploring nutrition, lifestyle, mental health, gut health, stress, sleep, and more. When appropriate, I offer functional lab testing to better understand gut-brain health, hormones, nutrient status, inflammation, and blood sugar balance.

Nutrition & Lifestyle Support for Mental Health
Nutritional psychiatry is a key part of my practice. What you eat plays a direct role in mood, focus, anxiety, and emotional balance. We’ll work on nourishing your brain with targeted nutrition, stabilizing blood sugar (critical for mood regulation), reducing inflammation, and supporting your gut—the “second brain.”

Personalized Plans That Support Body and Mind
Your care plan will be tailored to your needs, whether you’re working on mood stability, anxiety, depression, gut issues, hormones, or metabolic health. We’ll integrate nutrition, lifestyle habits, and stress management strategies to support your mental and physical health in a sustainable way.

Root Cause Healing
I don’t believe in band-aid approaches. We take the time to uncover the deeper reasons behind your symptoms, whether they stem from nutrient deficiencies, gut imbalances, chronic stress, hormone shifts, or inflammation, and create a plan to support lasting healing.

Real-Life, Sustainable Solutions
I provide evidence-based strategies that fit into your life—no extremes, no rigid diets. We focus on progress over perfection, helping you make small, realistic changes that build over time.

Ongoing Support & Collaboration
Healing works best when it’s a team effort. I work closely with your psychiatric nurse practitioners and other members of your care team to provide comprehensive support for your mental and physical health. Between sessions, you’ll have access to guidance and accountability to help you stay on track and feel confident in your progress.
